Holiday was absolutely great if you didn't need a special diet. I am coeliac and can't eat gluten, (it makes me very ill), however I had a hard time in 2 of the hotels which really did n't cater for me at all. One of the hotels had nothing to give me for my breakfast and had to send out for some gluten free bread, unfortunately it arrived too late for me to enjoy it. It was very hit and miss regarding food for the whole holiday and the Guide didn't appreciate how important it was for me and failed to offer us any help with the Hotels. Excluding that the holiday was amazing, scenery is different from anything we have experienced before. The Group got on very well and the minibus was comfortable. Itinerary covered just about all you neded to see in Iceland. So I would recommend this holiday but only if you do not suffer from Coleiac disease. Great Tour if you don't need a special diet. The whole experience was good, efficient and I got exactly what I was expecting and wanted. ”

Our tour through Iceland was amazing. The tour made so enjoyable by our guide Anna. She ensured we were safe at all times and got to see what Iceland has to offer. The scenery and the people were just beautiful.”

The Land of Northern Lights tour was a triumph!

My tour of Southern Iceland was absolutely wonderful. The venues chosen, the timing allotted at each venue and the variety of things to experience was nearly perfect. Our guide, "Thor", was smart, amusing, full of history and anecdotal stories as well as being incredibly hospitable and helpful. This small group experience was my first, but not my last thanks to On the Go.”

Frequently asked questions about our touring holidays in Iceland

Will I see the Northern Lights on your Iceland tours?

If you're travelling between September and March then it's likely you will catch a glimpse of these celestial light displays. We offer a number of tours specially designed around this bucket list wish, spending a night in a remote location away from city lights to increase our chances of seeing them. It's not something we can ever guarantee due to local weather conditions but there's a good chance you will see them over the course of your winter tour. Read our page on spotting the Northern Lights for more information.

Do your Iceland holidays include a visit to the Blue Lagoon?

Yes. A number of our tours, including our most popular 5 day Land of the Northern Lights itinerary, include a visit to the Blue Lagoon where you can relax in the natural geothermal spa surrounded by a dramatic-looking lava field. If you've got your heart set on a tour that doesn't already include the Blue Lagoon then don't worry - we offer a Blue Lagoon tour bolt-on that can be added to any trip in our range.

Can I go whale watching in Iceland?

Yes you can. We have a half-day whale watching bolt-on that can be booked in conjunction with any Iceland group tour. From Reykjavik's Old Harbour you'll join a whale watching boat excursion, spending roughly three hours out on the water in search of humpback, minke and other species of whale. This tour option is available year-round though the summer months (mid-June to August) are the best time to go whale watching in Iceland. You can also go out on a puffin watching trip too.

What is the Golden Circle and do you include it on your tours?

The Golden Circle is a popular touring route that covers some of Iceland's best known natural attractions. It's a circular loop that starts in Reykjavik and includes Thingvellir National Park, Haukadalur geyser and Gullfoss waterfall. You'll get to see all three of these sites on all our Iceland tours. Check out our dedicated guide to the Golden Circle if you would like to know more about these impressive sites.

How big are your tour groups and what is the age of your travellers?

The average group size on our Iceland tours is 20 travellers. You'll be travelling with people from English-speaking countries around the world so you can expect an eclectic mix of personalities and ages, ranging from those in their 20s to those over 60. Children over the age of 12 years are welcome on our Iceland tours so the group may include a few teenagers.

What is the standard of hotels on your trips?

In Iceland we use simple yet comfortable hotels that offer great value for money. Rooms are cosy with all the essentials you need. On tours where we stay in the rural town of Hella you'll stay in homely cottages, a great base for Northern Lights hunting in the dark evenings. If you prefer a higher standard of accommodation then our 'in style' tours are just the ticket with 3-4 star hotels.

What sort of transport do you use?

To get from A to B you'll be travelling on heated coaches that provide free WiFi for you to plaster your photos of Iceland's incredible landscapes straight onto social media. The large windows on our coaches makes this even easier while those not so attached to their phones can simply enjoy the changing scenery. For smaller group sizes we will use mini buses instead, offering a similar level of comfort.

When is the best time to visit Iceland?

If you want to see the Northern Lights then the very best time to visit Iceland is between November and February. This coincides with the darkest months of winter so there will be better opportunities to see the lights during the long nights. However, there is more to Iceland than just the Northern Lights and if you'd prefer longer days of sunlight to explore the many natural wonders then visit between June and August when the weather is at its most pleasant. Iceland: where leisurely walks become glacial hikes. Where rivers and streams become thundering falls. And where skies become stages for the illusive Northern Lights - and you'll have the best seats. It's a land of extremes, and these are our favourites.

Reykjavik

Sun Voyager in Reykjavik | Iceland

Creative people, colourful architecture, and a cool, contemporary soul. Reykjavik is a city of true Nordic style. And exploring here is an adventure in itself. Find a tour.

Seljalandsfoss

Seljalandsfoss is one of the best places to visit in Iceland

Iceland's most famous waterfall, plummeting from the lower edges of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano. But the best view is from behind. Stand underneath the falls and watch the water follow its course. Find a tour.

The Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon | Iceland

The place to recharge against a rugged natural backdrop. The lagoon's geothermal waters are rich in minerals - lending themselves to the lagoon's rejuvenating properties and beautiful blue shade. Find a tour.

The Northern Lights

Icelandic horses and Northern Lights | Iceland

The dancing glow of the Northern Lights captivates star-gazers and thrill-seekers alike. You'll need to stray from the city lights to see them - head to Hella or Borganes for the best view. Find a tour.
