Tip for your tour guides in Egypt, Jordan and Israel. We recommend you allow USD$8 per day, per traveller. Tipping your tour guides is an entirely personal gesture
Entrance Fees: USD$210-230pp, paid in local currency
Tipping Kitty: USD$100-120pp, paid in local currency
Tipping is not a natural part of many Western cultures and many of us feel uncomfortable, or unsure, about when, or how much, to tip. However, in the places you will visit, tipping makes up a significant part of many people's wages so it's important that we get it right. For this reason we've developed a very simple system to take all the hassle out of tipping. With our 'tipping made easy' policy, a nominal pre-determined amount is collected from all group tour participants to cover tips en route. This then saves you the hassle of when and how much to tip bellhops, luggage handlers, local guides and other support staff through the tour. Our 'tipping made easy' doesn't include a tip to your group tour leader. Naturally, though, the amount is up to you as tipping is an entirely personal gesture.

After exploring the castle we descend some 1300 meters to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on the earth’s surface. More than 400 meters below sea level, the mineral-rich Dead Sea is the world’s original health and beauty spa. Drift out and bob in the waters and slap on some of the famous black Dead Sea mud to give your skin an invigorating boost.

For departures between April and October we’ll head up the King’s Highway to Wadi Mujib. We’ll embark on a moderate –paced two hour trek along the Siq Trail. Measuring 500 metres in depth and spanning 4 kilometres across, the impressive Wadi Mujib is one of Jordan’s most remarkable natural features. This dramatic canyon features sheer rocky walls and sparkling waterways that range from puddle height to depths that are perfect for swimming (chest height or deeper) depending on the rainfall. When the water level is high you should be prepared for having to climb up ladders, clamber across boulders and be happy to wade through water. The canyon is just one feature of the Mujib Biosphere Reserve, the lowest nature reserve in the world, home to a surprising diversity of wildlife and plant species. Retracing the final laboured steps of Jesus, burdened under the weight of the cross, we walk along the Via Dolorosa to the hallowed Church of the Sepulchre; the site of the crucifixion, Jesus’ tomb and the resurrection.

A short drive from Jerusalem is Bethlehem – the birthplace of Jesus; where we visit Manger Square and the Church of Nativity, which is reputed to be the oldest Church in the world and the site where Jesus was born. Spend the evening at leisure in Jerusalem.

Tour Reviews

From the time we arrived in Egypt I knew we were in good hands. Our Egypt tour guide Medo was fantastic and if you are lucky enough to have Medo your experience will be first class. His passion and knowledge about his country was incredible. We had a group of 18 which was larger than groups I had travelled in before but Medo was very organised so we didn't miss a beat. Days were busy, but we started early to miss the heat of the day and often had time to fit in a swim or drink by the pool. Highlights included the Pyramids, Abu Simbel, Valley of the Kings and Queens and the cruise on the river Nile. Jordan with Gee was also incredible, the walk to Petra and the Treasury and later the Monastery did not disappoint we had grown to a group of 25 at this point, but travel seems to be back on everyone's agenda again. The Dead Sea was also an awesome experience. Israel was a surprise, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv such contrasts and spending additional time in Tel Aviv at the end allowed us to visit Masada as this is not covered in the tour so definitely worth an extra day or two. Israel was more expensive than Egypt and Jordan and so although the hotel was central and close to the beach my only criticism would be that if we had stayed at a hotel with a pool, it would have topped off what was an incredible 19 days.

Medo was a wonderful guide , he always went the extra mile. He was so very knowledgeable re the history of Egypt, the people and the Culture. My husband and I would certainly recommend him as a guide. We liked him as a person.

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, especially the felucca, Egyptian sites, Petra, Wadi Rum, and Jerusalem. Our guides were simply wonderful at ensuring our time was completely filled. The timing and scheduling of all parts of the tour was very impressive. All guides extremely knowledgeable.

We toured for 23 days through Egypt, Jordan and Israel. The tour was well structured - a great itinerary and great/good guides. Our guide in Egypt Mahmoud Ramadan as excellent. He is the main reason I would recommend OnTheGo Tours. This is my fifth trip overseas and I have had countless short tour guides. He is the best! You want to request him if touring with On The Go in Egypt. I also thoroughly enjoyed my time in Jordan. I was looking forward to Petra but was surprised by how much I loved Wadi Rum, Wadi Mujib and the Dead Sea. This was such a varied experience and a great time. We added a few days at the beginning in Cairo and a few days at the end in Tel Aviv which I would definitely recommend. Overall this was a great trip. On The Go took very good care of us from meeting us at the airport to the transfer to the airport at the end. Great Service.

I have returned home from 3 weeks with “On The Go” - “Pyramids, Petra & Promised Lands” (plus Alexandria & El Alamein). I have enjoyed the trip and saw many things that I wanted to see (ticked off on my bucket list). Upon arrival I met a rep and he helped me to bypass any queue and I was surprised to see this and had a driver waiting for me to get into the hotel without any problems. I was greeted by Amir at the hotel and gave me useful information for my trip such as the name of the guide, time to leave the hotel for Alexandria etc. Momo was a perfect person to lead the tour due to his excellent knowledge of Egyptian history and Gods, his sense of humour, his passion for his country and his work. Loved this guy from the first day I met and I would love to go back to Egypt again! The highlights were cruising on the Nile in a felucca, Abu Simbel (worthwhile trip even an early morning wake-up call), snorkelling and banana boat ride at the Red Sea, camel ride at Giza and visiting various temples by day and night. Being a vegetarian, I have enjoyed eating Egyptian foods especially the falafels, vegetable stew and humus. No dramas whatsoever. The people on the tour were friendly and easy to get along with and thanks to Momo who made the family bonded for life. I felt very safe travelling in Egypt and would do it again. There are a lot of negative feedback from the social media saying Egypt is not safe to travel which is very wrong. These Egyptian people were extremely friendly like Momo and Amir. This trip provided a great immersion into the history and culture of this beautiful country Egypt. I am indebted to Momo and Amir for life and I have memories of this trip that will last a life time. After Egypt I went to Jordan and Israel and had good guides. The highlights were hiking at Petra, cruising along the desert of Wadi Rum, floating at the Dead Sea, walking around Jerusalem – Old City, Dome of the Rock, Western Wall. I asked the guide that I would like to go to Austrian Hospice roof top and had no problems. The view of the old city Jerusalem was amazing. I would recommend On The Go to my family and friends.
