Itinerary

Day 1 - Arusha

Mt Kilimanjaro Airport - Arusha. The start of your Tanzania Wilderness Safari begins in the capital of safaris, Arusha. You will be collected from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your lodge for the night. Spend the afternoon or evening relaxing at leisure.

Overnight: Arusha

Days 2-3 - West Kilimanjaro

Arusha - Mt Kilimanjaro. After breakfast you will set out for the stunning and African postcard landscape of West Kilimanjaro. This area is renowned for its large population of the semi-nomadic people, the Masai, thorny acacia trees, and its unforgettable bull elephants. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and later enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Spend day 3 making the most of your magnificent surroundings by taking a morning and afternoon game drive. This area of Tanzania has its share of game to see but is better known for its spectacular scenery and location and the opportunity to interact with the local Masai, an unmissable and unique experience.

Overnight: West Kilimanjaro
Meals: Breakfast x2, Lunch x2, Dinner x2

Day 4 - Tarangire National Park

West Kilimanjaro - Tarangire National Park. From West Kilimanjaro transfer to Arusha, arriving in time for lunch. Later drive to your next stunning northern Tanzanian park, Tarangire National Park. Spend the next two days here exploring the park grounds and spotting wildlife on morning and afternoon game drives.

Tarangire lies a little distance to the south east of Lake Manyara and covers an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometres. The park is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing African pythons. Tarangire National Park has some of the highest population density of elephants anywhere in Tanzania, more than Manyara and Serengeti. If you are fortunate to visit the area after heavy rains, the surrounding Manyara and Tarangire Pans fill with water which attracts huge flocks of Flamingos and other wading birds.

Overnight: Tarangire National Park
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 - Tarangire National Park

Today we make the most of Tarangire National Park with both morning and afternoon game drives. The landscape is iconically African with open Acacia woodlands and Baobab trees scattered all over the area and wildlife galore - zebra, kudu, eland, impala, gazelle, buffalo, wildebeest, leopard, rhino just to name a few of what this park has to offer.

Overnight: Tarangire National Park
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 - Serengeti National Park

Tarangire - Serengeti. Leaving the Tarangire behind you will drive to Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th world-wide wonder, the Serengeti National Park. The park is renowned for its annual migration; when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.

Overnight: Serengeti National Park
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 7 - Serengeti National Park

There’s nothing like an early morning start allowing you to experience one of the most ultimate game viewing sessions. After a hot cup of tea or coffee you will soon be wide-awake as you watch wildlife in its most active time. The cat family love to make appearances in the morning, while the early morning light makes photographing herds of wildlife a photographer’s dream.

For something completely different, we can arrange an early morning balloon safari over the Serengeti. View large pods of wildlife and watch the sun rise over the park’s endless plains, only to finish off this relaxing journey with a scrumptious champagne breakfast.

After lunch at camp, return to the parks open plains in search for more wildlife viewing and experiences. As the evening light approaches, you will be thoroughly rewarded with all your game spotting with sundowners at a picturesque location in the park.

Overnight: Serengeti National Park
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8 - Ngorongoro highlands

Serengeti - Ngorongoro. Say goodbye to the enchanting Serengeti National Park only to be presented with another natural wonder, the Ngorongoro Crater. This incredible formation is part of the larger Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which covers more than 8300 square kilometres. The actual crater is 260 square kilometres and 620m deep. En route to Ngorongoro Crater visit Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important palaeoanthropological sites in the world.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Highlands
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9 - Ngorongoro Crater

To experience the crater without the crowds you will rise early for a half day game drive. Reaching the crater floor as the sun begins to rise, you will undoubtedly be amazed at this natural phenomenon before you. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to about 25,000 animals and is one of the last places in Tanzania where the Big Five can be seen. The NCA is considered one of the World Heritage Sites and also one of the International Biosphere Reserves. Additionally, the NCA is unique because it is a multi-use conservation area - where the animals and environment are protected but the Masai are allowed to live and continue their pastoral lifestyle.

Enjoy a picnic on the edge of one of the crater’s lake as you watch elephants quench their thirst from afar. Return to your accommodation to relax and enjoy a well-earned feast.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Highlands
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 10 - Arusha

Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha. We leave the Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast and head back to Arusha where our safari ends. Onward transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport.
