From Split’s sandy Bacvice beach to the iconic Zlatni Rat on Brac, let’s discover some of the best beaches in Croatia that you can visit on tour with us!

5 of the Best Beaches in Croatia

Zlatni Rat, Brac

1. Zlatni Rat, Brac

If you already know about one beach in Croatia, we’re prepared to bet that it’s this one. The poster child of Croatian beaches, Zlatni Rat is unique in that it protrudes out from the island of Brac on a pebble spit. The beach changes shape daily based on prevailing winds and ocean currents and is located in one of the most reliably sunny spots in the whole country. Away from the beach itself, there’s a beautiful promenade leading to the village of Bol. The majority of our Croatia sailing holidays visit Bol and Zlatni Rat!

2. Bacvice, Split

Two things make Bacvice one of the special Croatia beaches. The first is that it is located within the city of Split itself, making it easily accessible even to those only stopping for a brief time here. The second is that it is one of the few sandy beaches in Croatia, so more suitable for sunbathing and relaxation than the pebbled majority. Although it can be busy in summer, the shallow waters are ideal for younger travellers, and there are numerous bars and restaurants within easy distance.

3. Sveti Ivan, Cres

The lesser-visited and largely undeveloped island of Cres is located in the northern Adriatic, best known for farming and as being home to a population of rare griffon vultures. From the hilltop city of Lubenice, visitors to Cres with time to spare can make the 40-minute walk down a steep footpath to Sveti Ivan, one of the best beaches in Croatia. This secluded white pebble beach overlooks the Adriatic and the Blue Cave. Even in high season, the beach rarely gets busy, but there are no facilities whatsoever, and no lifeguards.

4. Banje, Dubrovnik

Located just outside the city walls of Dubrovnik, Banje is easily accessible and wildly popular, so expect it to be busy during the summer season. This pebble beach is lined with sunbeds and boasts fabulous views of the pretty island of Lokrum, as well as the outer walls of Dubrovnik. In the evening, expect to hear chilled music and see flickering candles as travellers and locals alike dine and drink on the terrace facing out towards the beach.

5. Pakleni Islands, near Hvar

Some of the best Croatia beaches can be found at the Pakleni Islands, off Hvar's coast. This small archipelago boasts pristine beaches like Palmizana and Stipanska. With crystal-clear waters and lush greenery, they offer a serene escape. Facilities vary, but most beaches offer sunbed rentals, beach bars, and watersport activities, ensuring a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure amidst breathtaking landscapes. Many of our Croatia trips offer free time to unwind on the beaches of the Pakleni Islands.
