Embark on an exciting and easy paced, glacier hike on the breathtaking Sólheimajökull glacier, accompanied by experienced glacier guides. With extensive training and the highest qualifications in glacier guiding, they will skillfully lead you across the glacier with its captivating spectrum of hues – from pristine white to ethereal blue. You will be escorted to exclusive glacier zones, a privilege enjoyed by only a select few. While traversing this icy marvel, you will explore the wonderland of ice sculptures, water cauldrons, ridges and deep crevasses, while taking in the spectacular views.

The Icelandic Mountain Guides will enhance your experience with their incredible knowledge of Icelandic glaciers, volcanoes, and mountains, transforming your glacier stroll into a memorable educational journey.

Previous experience is not required for this hike, as an experienced glacier guide will teach you how to use basic glacier equipment, such as crampons and an ice axe, which are provided. The unique experience of a glacier walk on one of the many retreating glaciers of the world is sure to leave lasting memories!

Total Duration: 3 hours

Time on the ice: 60 - 90 minutes, with a 30-40 min walk (one-way) from the car park to the glacier edge itself

Excludes: Rain gear, hiking boots and warm clothing

Minimum age: 10

Difficulty level: Easy to moderate (accessible to all people who are in good health)

This add-on can be booked in conjunction with Land of the Northern Lights and Iceland, Land of Midnight Sun, and the comfort upgrade of these two tours. Offered on the afternoon of day 3 at 14.30. Note: Those on the glacier hike will miss the visit to Reynisfjara black sand beach.
