Itinerary
Day 1 Welcome
Day 1 Welcome
Welcome to Egypt! Upon arrival at Luxor Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After check in, the rest of the day is at your leisure. Venture out and explore or relax at the hotel!
Day 2 West Bank & Karnak Temple
Day 2 West Bank & Karnak Temple
Enjoy breakfast, followed by a guided tour to the wonderous West Bank.
First stop of the day will be to the Valley of the Kings, a magnificent burial ground for the pharaohs. This sacred site is believed to be the Kingdom of Osiris, the god of the underworld. Spend time exploring grand tombs - brimming with treasures and adorned with exquisite artwork.
Continuing on, you'll head to Hatshepsut Temple. Designed by Queen's architect, Senenmut, the temple is nestled at the head of a valley. There are various statues and sphinxes of Queen Hatsheput showcased throughout the temple. See how many you can spot!
Lastly, you'll pass by the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have silently witnessed 3,400 years in the Theban necropolis, across the River Nile from the city of Luxor.
You'll return to the hotel with time to refresh before heading out for an afternoon guided visit to Kanak Temple on the East Bank. Dedicated to the God Amon, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu, this monumental temple represents a construction timeline from the beginning of the Middle Kingdom to the Greco-Roman Kingdom.
Day 3 Deir el-Medina
Day 3 Deir el-Medina
Today, you'll head out to explore Deir el-Medina with a guided tour. While much of Egypt's famous locations revolve around pharaohs and their monumental building projects, Deir el-Medina provides insight into the lives of 'regular' ancient Egyptian citizens.
Known as the 'Workers' Village,' Deir el-Medina housed around 70 families of workers employed by the state. The small, beautifully decorated tombs found here showcase scenes from the lives and families of the artisans who created them. This provides a contrast to the generic depictions of the afterlife found in the royal tombs at the Valley of the Kings.
Afterwards, you'll embark on a tour of a village in the West Bank. Upon arrival, enjoy a refreshing welcome drink and join a small music party. You will then have the opportunity to try your hand at baking local bread, known as 'Shamsi.' Learn about the phases of baking, the tools used, and the traditional baking oven constructed of old bricks and a small dome!
