Located in the same square as the Leaning Tower of Pisa the Duomo di Pisa, or Pisa Cathedral, is beautiful cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Construction of the cathedral began in 1063 and was completed 29 years later in 1092. A new façade was built for the building in the 12th century and the roof was replaced after a fire damaged it in 1595. The interior is intricately designed with coffered ceiling and a stone carved pulpit.
