Your rental car will be delivered at 10:00am. Spend the day exploring Jordan’s capital city or perhaps visit Madaba and Mt Nebo, the choice is yours. Madaba is famed for its Byzantine 6th century Mosaics, perhaps the most impressive of these is an enormous 6th-century map of the Holy Land, which is located in St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church. A short drive from Madaba is Mt Nebo, where it is said that Moses first viewed the Promised Land. Enjoy the same incredible views over the Dead Sea, Jericho, the Jordan Valley and even Jerusalem, if it's a clear day. After your busy day, return to the hotel in Amman.
Days 3-4 The Rose City of Petra
Days 3-4 The Rose City of Petra
Amman - Petra. Today you’ll drive to the ancient Rose City of Petra. You can stop en route to visit the impressive crusader castle of Karak if you wish. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Petra is the jewel in Jordan’s archaeological crown and you have two days to discover all of its hidden gems.
The entrance to the city is through a narrow and deep winding trail-like fissure in the rocks known as the Siq. The rocks give way to reveal the most awesome sight, that of the famous Kazneh - The Treasury of Petra. Explore the ancient Nabatean tombs and the Roman rock-carved streets lined with temples, royal tombs, staircases, arched gates, and public buildings. If you are feeling intrepid, ascend the numerous steep steps to Ad Deir, better known as the Monastery - the views from the top are spectacular. (Guided sightseeing is highly recommended and can be arranged upon request).
Day 5 Spectacular Wadi Rum
Day 5 Spectacular Wadi Rum
Petra - Wadi Rum. Time for some exciting 4x4 action! On arrival in Wadi Rum, you’ll transfer to a jeep for a 4x4 safari across the stunning desertscape. The region is home to the semi nomadic Bedouin, living in goat’s hair tents, tending their herds of sheep and goat and preserving an ancient lifestyle that has been practised in the Arabian Desert for thousands of years. Spend the evening at a Bedouin camp, enjoy a traditional meal and sleep either in a tent or under a galaxy of stars! It’s a truly unforgettable experience.
Day 6 Dead Sea
Day 6 Dead Sea
Wadi Rum - Dead Sea. Heading north, you descend to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. There's free time here to float in the mineral-rich water, a unique experience. The water is said to be very good for your skin, after all it is the oldest spa!
