On this half day excursion, explore the picturesque village of Chinchero, nestled within the Sacred Valley. Revered as the birthplace of the rainbow, this traditional Andean settlement boasts Inca ruins, a beautiful colonial church, breathtaking mountain panoramas, and a bustling traditional Sunday market.

Travel from Cusco to Chinchero, soaking up the awe-inspiring vistas encompassing the Sacred Valley and the majestic snow-covered peak of Salkantay to the west. Visit the local church, which was built on the remnants of an Inca palace and houses an array of paintings from the esteemed Cusqueñan School of Art. In the main square, locals from nearby villages gather to buy and sell their produce at the vibrant Sunday market. Here we can observe the lively spectacle of bargaining and see women in traditional dress demonstrating the art of wool-spinning and weaving. Although the market is much smaller than the one at Pisac, it sells some beautiful handicrafts, giving you the opportunity to test your own bartering skills and take home some lovely souvenirs.
