Reasons to Book a Solo Trip to India
Our India tours are a great option for solo travellers, allow us to explain why!
Safe & Stress Free
For travellers from Western countries, exploring India can be a bit of a culture shock. The large cities in particular are teeming with activity and it can get overwhelming for travellers! By exploring with a group tour, you can enjoy all of the highlights of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, but without having to fend for yourself. Our expert local guide will be with you every step of the way and there is safety in numbers with our small group tours.
Make New Friends
On our India tours, you may be travelling solo, but you will never be alone! Around one third of our travellers are exploring solo, but with a group of up to 24 adventurers all with a shared passion for travel, you are sure to meet like-minded people on tour. It isn't uncommon for solo travellers to make new friends on our trips, and to then come back for a different tour with their new travel buddies! And with plenty of free time on our trips, if you do want to some solo exploring, you will have lots of opportunities to do this too!
Expertly Crafted Itineraries
In case you hadn't noticed, India is huge! Some of the cities and destinations we visit are hundreds of miles apart, and it can be logistically very difficult to plan a trip by yourself. When you book a package tour with us, you don't need to worry about that. All you need to do is arrive in India, we'll collect you and from the start to the end of your tour, all of your transportation will be included. On some tours we include domestic flights, and when travelling by road it is always in private, air-conditioned transportation.
Uncover the Real India
On our India group tours, you will take in all of the main highlights, from the Taj Mahal to Jaipur's Amber Fort. But we include lots of lesser-known gems and authentic Indian experiences too. Whether it's spending a night at the Maharajah's Palace in Karauli, riding a rickshaw around the backstreets of Delhi, or cruising the lush Kerala Backwaters aboard a deluxe traditional rice boat, you'll head home having sampled an authentic slice of Indian culture.
Frequently asked questions
I'm travelling alone. Will I feel comfortable in a group tour?
A significant proportion of our explorers embark on their journeys solo, so the chances are that you won't be the only solo traveller on your tour. But even if you are, our group tours present a wonderful chance to encounter like-minded adventurers, and you will find yourself making friends as you journey across India together.
Is there a single supplement fee for solo travellers?
Most tour prices include accommodation in a double or twin room. While customers travelling with a companion can share the cost, solo travellers bear the full cost alone, resulting in a higher per-person expense compared to couples. Please check the specific tour for more details or contact our team for further information. We offer a single room price for the majority of our India tours, and we keep these prices as low as possible for solo travellers.
How will transportation work for solo travellers within the group?
Transportation is usually organised for the entire group. You'll have the chance to socialise during travel, and our guides will ensure everyone feels included. In India, we use private, air-conditioned transportation, and on some tours, economy class travel on domestic flights is also included. Details can be found in the Inclusions section for each tour.
Is there an age limit for solo travellers on India group tours?
Our India tours are open to adult travellers of all ages, although there is a minimum age of 15 on our tours, and under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. In India, our groups are made up of a diverse mix of travellers from English-speaking countries including the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa.
What if I want some alone time during the tour?
As well as included sightseeing and activities, our itineraries include free time for you to explore at your own pace or relax in your accommodation. Whilst many groups stick together during this time, lots of our travellers also like to head off for a bit of solo exploration - the choice is yours!
