some of the accomodations were not good. cold rooms lukewarm showers, food poor quality, overall I would not recommend this tour group. communication was poor with tour group. We were almost stranded waiting to be picked up. One boat ride tour never picked us up, no call no communication.”

From buying the tour to very end of travel, ESPECIALLY our tour guide was awesome. Even sent a separate e-mail saying that our tour guide Stefan was spectacular.

The only downside was "Hotel Cabin"s room size in Rejkjavik. they were uncomfortably small.”

I was picked up at Stop 1 by Matalio. He was welcoming, polite and friendly. He did a fantastic job driving for the entire tour. He was helpful and informative and went above and beyond to help.

The tour guide is also the driver which Made it difficult to understand or learn what he was providing information on as his focus is on driving and keeping us safe. Secondly the initial bus the speaker wasn't working so we had waste time waiting for a new bus to arrive. The tour mentioned chasing northern light but we were left unaccompanied to go look for them in Hella and ddnt even know what to look for in the sky as to the naked eye the ligjts are not visible I was given info from a fellow tourist on the trip. A separate tour guide is needed to take you out to sites and explain not sit on the bus and expect tourists to go out not understanding what was pointed out as it was only mentioned in the bus. ”  

comprised 2 tours Golden Circle Loop & Artic Aurora Super Jeep. I loved both tours. I enjoyed the Arctic Aurora that I booked another on on 29 Sept. Got to see the Northern Lights on both occasions. Both guides Bjorni & Palli were very helpful to me as I had a new phone with the camera inbuilt and didn't think I would get any good photos. But got great pix. My other guide Elisa even though not an Icelander by birth had lived in Iceland long enough to have a love and appreciation for the country and was lovely and also very knowledgeable.

Our host was very informative about icelands history as we drove the south coast.

The van was comfortable enough and had charging ports for seats.

Accommodation at Hofn was clean and warm, sometimes to warm so we had to open a window, better than being to cold.

Restaurant at Hofn was great , food was amazing but pricey.

The sights speak for themselves Iceland is beautiful!!

This was advertised as a 5 day tour but in reality it was only 3 days. The tour information is misleading. Also, there should have been a meet and greet the night prior to departure so that the Tour Director could pass any important information on to the group members. Also, the set up of a WhatsApp group would have been helpful so that attendees could make contact with one another.”  

We have contacted customer care to explain our disappointment with the advertisement of the tour.

The tour was titled a 5 day tour, when only 3 days had an actual tour guide, the start and finish days are “self-guided”. This is extremely misleading and a blatant rip off.”  

Excellent tour - felt I really got to see the highlights of Iceland. Tour guide was good but at times difficult to understand because of his accent. However he was very helpful and knowledgeable.”  

Overall the tour was very good however the glacier walk/ice cave experience was not.

We were requested to provide notification of any limitations eg mobility, claustrophobia, fear of heights.There was nowhere on the form to give that information and it had to be provided verbally.This information was told to the guide on multiple occasions but he did not appear to register and did not act on the advice.The glacier walk/ice cave is unsuitable for people with fear of heights. They should have been advised accordingly when they disclosed their situations. Insufficient detail was provided about the nature of that tour so that better decisions could have been made. The Southcoast glacier walk guide tried to suggest that all would be fine if they continued and they would get better- that is not realistic in people with phobias.

Had the On the Go guide acted on the advice given / and had sufficient detail about the glacier walk been provided a much more appropriate option would have been for those clients to have remained in Vik to do other activities on their own (eg shopping, visit maritime museum and nearby black beach) rather than having been put in an extremely unpleasant situation. ”  

Joey was an excellent guide and we enjoyed the tour very much.

Our only criticism would be the bus. With a full load of people it was very cramped, especially when there were some oversized passengers.

Secondly, the sound system was poor. It was hard to hear the commentary at any time and impossible to hear anything at all in the back half of the bus.

This was a very good trip, with appropriate amounts of time to visit at the stops we made for the beautiful waterfalls, beaches, etc., and also for the comfort stops. Although some tourist may have thought a few of the overnight accommodations were marginal, I thought they were fine. I did not take this trip to see the lodgings/hotels.

Siggy was an exceptionally good guide, and extremely patient, especially given the non-stop questions, dialog and distractions from one young boy who sat directly behind him, the entire trip. Siggy also facilitated the guests getting to know one another better, which made this a very enjoyable and friendly tour.”

We had a great trip. Our guide Martina was fabulous, very knowledgeable about all aspects of Iceland, she talked with a lot of heart with telling the history of Iceland. Our bus driver did a great job navigating the sometimes challenging roads and icy parking lots. One thing I would suggest is for all buses is to carry chain/ bolt cutters since there was an issue with the chains on the tires that got stuck and our driver Ziggy/ Siggy couldn't take them off and we had to sit on the side of the road for over an hour until someone could be contacted and bring a bolt/chain cutter to take care of the problem. It would be a minor expense to have on board all buses for safety precaution for future traveling. ”  

Some of the days were very long and it would have been good to do a longer tour with a rest day or multiple night stay. On the second day of the tour the weather was predicted to be very bad, so with our consent the tour leader/driver (Hodei) included many of the day 2 activities in day 1. Lucky we did, as a section of the ring road was closed for about 24hrs. The company was able to organise super jeeps to get us around the volcano through the highlands and carry on the rest of the tour with another vehicle. The itinerary seemed a bit different to the online versions, but was very full, informative and enjoyable. There were plenty of hikes and the only activity we missed was the glacier hike as the road to it was closed. Hodei was a safe driver, full of stories of Iceland and always ready with a smile. He included some surprises that weren't on the itinerary, one of the highlights was a cafe with an all you can eat cake buffet! The standard of hotels was very good, better than expected. In some places the choices for dinner were limited, but were very tasty and generous servings. We found Iceland very expensive, so I understand why only breakfasts were included. Hodei always gave us the chance to buy ready made sandwiches at the petrol stations as an option to a sit down lunch. We felt we were given plenty of time at each site, with the exception of Siglofjordour, which was so beautiful. Some people were disappointed not to be visiting the Herring Museum.”  

Great tour, thor was wonderful and very knowledgeable. I would suggest ensuring the tour groups are small to make it easier for participants and driver. And can you maybe work out a few waterfalls and in something else? They were pretty but damn there was a lot.”  

The sights visited were really good, but felt a bit rushed with a lot of them. Time given at a lot of sights was 30-45 mins. The thing that really upset me was zero communication regarding “hikes” at some of the sights. In the “on the go”brochures, the only mention of the word hike was relating to tours done in winter. I am a 63 year old woman who considers herself healthy but when I was told there were two 5 kilometre hikes, I literally nearly died. Had we have known before hand, perhaps we would have chosen another itinerary. So the first one I tried but was unsuccessful, so missed out on seeing some beautiful waterfalls. The second was to the ice cave. I forced myself to do this, so I didn’t miss out again, but was fearful the whole way. The other thing was, we were not at all prepared with the correct clothing for the ice cave. We had no boots or waterproof gear.

We feel very let down and it took away a lot of the enjoyment and created stress.

I believe On the Go Tours have not supplied the correct information regarding their tours. If another supplier is to be used, then that information should be passed on to customers. For this reason we will not travel with them again. ”  

I thoroughly enjoyed the 6 day tour around Iceland,however I felt it would be better as a 5 day tour.

Our guide was fantastic and knowledgeable and fitted in extra things for us which I appreciated.

I felt mentally and physically tired after day 5.

I felt the Whale Watching and horse farm visit could be removed as that is not my interest but I can see others may have been interested.

I really feel I got a good flavour and understanding of Iceland. The guide gave us lots of photo opportunities. You do have to be physically fit as there is alot of getting off and on the coach but you do have choice as to what you take part in.”  

We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 day Geysers, Glaciers and Golden Circle tour. Our tour guide, Alday was excellent. He was very professional, displayed an extensive knowledge of the various tour destinations and provided valuable commentary. The tour exceeded our expectations. The hotel in Reykjavík was not good. The rooms were far too small and the food was cheap. However, the rooms were clean and the staff there were very friendly. The second hotel was really great, rooms, staff and food were very good. After we had this hotel, it was not nice to have to go to the hotel in Reykjavík again”  

Overall the tour and the guide were excellent. There are a couple of things which can be improved.

The boat trip to see the Northern Lights at the first night had been cancelled due to weather conditions. However, instead of being able to contact me directly, the boat trip operator could only contact On The Go. The cancellation information had not been passed to me. It was left to myself to find out why the trip had been cancelled and how to get a refund.

On the last day, the itinerary details weren not clear which hotel I should stay.”  

Amazing, could not fault our Guide at all and it was truly a wonderful experience.

The Cabin Hotel was not the best choice for this tour. It felt like staying at a backpackers however, our second accommodation was very ideal. ”  

The guide seemed not sure of herself in several realms; like she had not done the specific tour in awhile and didn't know where we should eat (so let's go to the grocery store and get some sandwiches to eat on the bus) and other things. She knew the area but didn't seem flexible at all. Would not use this tour again.

There's too much of a disconnect between you folks booking the tour and what's happening when we got there. We had no idea what the agenda was for the day and timing of things; no idea how long we would be spending in one place. The pre-information sent by On the Go Tours was not helpful; it was too general in terms of where we would be, how long we would be there. For example, had we known the large church would be part of the tour, then we would not have hiked up to see it on our own in Reklavek. And, the weather conditions were so bad for Blue Lagoon that another lagoon should have been scheduled. Not a fan anymore.”  

From what I remember the guide was very good, full of info, humour and talked a lot!

The van was much too small for the group. It felt suffocating. The tour guide was knowledgeable but he NEVER stopped talking. We heard way too much about mundane subjects - like Justin Bieber's trip to Iceland. He wasn't helpful AT ALL when someone in our group was not feeling well. He just ignored it. And it really wasn't necessary to stop at the same waterfall twice. He also complained a lot about having to drop people off at their hotels. Wasn't that part of the deal? The hotel was stark but had all the necessities and the restaurant and the food were a great escape from sitting in the van all day. We did see a lot of great things in Iceland and the guide was informative. Overall, the trip would have been much better with a warmer tour guide who didn't think he needed to talk every minute in the overcrowded van. ”

I would not say he's a tour guide; he's a driver who has lived in Iceland all his life and knows Iceland. He loves fishing and worked in the fishing industry before he worked for Arctic Adventures, which was a few years ago. He named all the waterfalls, glaciers and places we stopped at but didn't give any history or any other information about the plateaus, mountains, ice fields and fjords. He's a pleasant enough person but not a guide with knowledge and history of Iceland to convey tourists. As an older person, he had some issues with short term memory and hearing.”

AMAZING!!!!

We were able to go in every single attraction planned, the city center of Reykjavík, incredible waterfalls, a beautiful beach, a stunning valley ( national park), museums, an amazing show, a cozy hot spring, a lovely and warm green house and horse stable, an amazingly beautiful glacier and a indescribable time experiencing the northern lights.

The only downside was the short time limit on each site. And because of the volcano eruption we couldn’t go to the Blue Lagoon.

Overall it was an amazing, amazing trip.

The guide was very professional and nice, very attentive to details and time. That made the trip very comfortable.

The weather was very, very cold but still manageable.

I would recommend OntheGo to use the first and last day more wisely. They could make available a shuttle from the hotel to take us to the city center/downtown at a certain time and pick us up like couple of hours later, so we could experience the downtown by ourselves. Like, we got at the hotel early in the morning and spent our time just seating at the hotel lobby. If we had a shuttle to take us to some place and having someone to pick us up, we wouldn’t feel lost or afraid to explore and we could start feeling and understanding the city/ country in the first day.

Holiday was absolutely great if you didn't need a special diet. I am coeliac and can't eat gluten, (it makes me very ill), however I had a hard time in 2 of the hotels which really did n't cater for me at all. One of the hotels had nothing to give me for my breakfast and had to send out for some gluten free bread, unfortunately it arrived too late for me to enjoy it. It was very hit and miss regarding food for the whole holiday and the Guide didn't appreciate how important it was for me and failed to offer us any help with the Hotels. Excluding that the holiday was amazing, scenery is different from anything we have experienced before.The Group got on very well and the minibus was comfortable. Itinerary covered just about all you neded to see in Iceland. So I would recommend this holiday but only if you do not suffer from Coleiac disease. Great Tour if you don't need a special diet. The whole experience was good, efficient and I got exactly what I was expecting and wanted. ”

My tour of Southern Iceland was absolutely wonderful. The venues chosen, the timing allotted at each venue and the variety of things to experience was nearly perfect. Our guide, "Thor", was smart, amusing, full of history and anecdotal stories as well as being incredibly hospitable and helpful. This small group experience was my first, but not my last thanks to On the Go.”

I would rate this Iceland tour highly. The guide, Eyrun was brilliant and the accommodation and breakfasts were wonderful. The itinerary was great and the guide always did her best for us, even if roads were closed and there were necessary itinerary changes. She always kept us informed of what was going on and gave excellent information. We were so lucky to see the Northern lights and loved the chalet accommodation in the South of Iceland. My only gripe would be the Flybus coach from the airport to the hotel - we had to wait 2 hours and nobody was sure what was happening”

The guide was terrific!!! He was funny, knew a lot about Icelandic history, geology, wildlife and shared with us a lot of "sociological" elements that make the Icelandic identity/psyche I think. He gave a lot of information and anecdotes throughout the tour. and was always available to discuss things we wanted to know/understand either in the group setting or on an individual basis.

As for the tour, we were awestruck by the scenery and the sites that were visited - we even got to view a bit more waterfalls than expected.

Our guide Martina was awesome and very personable. Very knowledgable about Iceland's people and the land, including history, geology, culture, folklore, flowers, birds, Iceland's economy, and, of course, volcanoes and glaciers. She knew when to plan a waterfall visit so we'd see a rainbow. She knew old roads and side trips. She could recommend shops for hand-knitted goods, and restaurants for particular food preferences. ”  

This tour takes you around to all the spots plus more that I wanted to see in Iceland. We had enough time to see everything and learned so much about Iceland. I really enjoyed every moment of the trip.”  

Our guide was great. Excellent source of knowledge, friendly, great driver. Knew excellent places for lunch stops. Tour was a good pace, although difficult with staying up looking for the northern lights, although the hotels were so-so. The last hotel, in the south, was perfect for light hunting - no area lights, easy access to check outdoors from our rooms. Would have preferred a more remote location for the 2 nights in the west, since there were lights all over and it would have been difficult to see the northern lights if the weather was good. Excellent hot tubs ad breakfast, though.”

Amazing value for money, Guesthouse Borgartuni spotlessly clean and lovely family run. Tour ran like clockwork, no complaints whatsoever and i was expecting a few niggles since travelling alone with three children but we all fitted in very well and found it very interesting. Plenty of travel stops/toilet breaks and itinery allowed for short journeys so no travel sickness incidents! Moe time at Thingvoir National Park perhaps lunch there?

I feel like a walking iceland fact book as the tour guide was so informative, she filled every suitable moment with interesting facts and she was very receptive to the groups needs. She was very engaging and enthusiastic about the country and always phoned the venues ahead of our arrival so there were no hold ups. I would recommmend the tour to my friends and have done so already. I have also recommended On the Go Tours too.

We had self catering cabins at Hella so my only suggestion would be that this be mentioned on the itinery as there is a supermarket nearby so i would have preferred to cook for one night and relax in cabin as it is a very busy itinery with little relaxation when using the restaurant where service was slow and impatient hungry children, its less of a sociable thing and more of a necessity to eat quick :)”

I can't remember Eric's last name but he was amazing! I called him Count Eric because he was always making sure everyone was on the bus. I can now count at least to 12 in Icelandic.

He knew so much about the history, geology etc and I think he really enjoyed telling us about Iceland.. He was pleasant and knowledgeable. Once we upgraded to a superior room all was great at the Hotel Cabin. I think that should be highlighted more as an option. The staff were extremely helpful and patient with all our "tourist" inquiries

The food at Arhus was actually very good and the young lady that served us was very efficient. The lodging was spartan as we knew it would be but looked at it like an adventure. The only real complaint would be that our cold water didn't work in our shower making it impossible to take a shower because of the heat of the geothermal hot water.”  

I enjoyed Iceland I would have preferred a little more time on the city tour of Reykjavik. The rest of the tour was great. Our guide very knowledgeable and passionate about the country and highlighted a lot of information. The shout of ‘aurora’ from our guide just was the icing on the cake! I didn’t think I would love Iceland this much but I want to explore more and become an aurora hunter now. ”

Very interesting tour guide, lots of little titbits of information, felt very safe with the coach driver. Everything was well timed, excellent places to eat out, enjoyed the Blue Lagoon. We didn't see the Northern Lights unfortunately but we understand that these do not always appear. We had a lovely time. The log cabins at Hella were beautiful, we felt like we were in a fairtytale! ”
