Day 2 Exploring Petra
Day 2 Exploring Petra
Today is free for you to do as you please, but where else would you head than the ancient Nabatean city of Petra? You can hire an expert guide locally who will be able to show you the iconic Treasury, which you reach by winding through the narrow Siq passageway. The Treasury starred in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and is the main reason Petra was listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. If you choose, you can climb the steep steps to the Monastery, an equally impressive facade that also boasts incredible views over the surrounding desert.
In the evening, you may wish to return to Petra by night (approx. USD$25 payable locally). The Siq and the Treasury are illuminated by thousands of candles, local music is playing and shadows dance across the rocks - it's an extremely special experience which we thoroughly recommend!
Day 3 Dead Sea
Day 3 Dead Sea
Petra - Dead Sea. This morning is free to relax in the hotel or return to Petra to see some more of this ancient city. Then it's time to hop into your rental car to make your way to the Dead Sea.
The Dead Sea is the lowest point on the Earth's surface, and the water is so salty that it is impossible to sink, and nothing other than microscopic organisms can survive in the water. You'll have time for a float and to slap on some of the rejuvenating Dead Sea mud, with free time this afternoon.
Driving distance: Approx 190km (2.5 hours)
Day 4 Farewell to the Dead Sea
Day 4 Farewell to the Dead Sea
Dead Sea - Amman. Enjoy a final dip in the Dead Sea or a spa treatment this morning before driving back to Amman airport. Here you will return your rental car and then it's onwards to your next destination. If you would like to stay in Amman for a few days then our Reservations team will be happy to help you book some post-tour accommodation.
