Itinerary
Day 1 - Welcome to Reykjavik
Day 1 - Welcome to Reykjavik
Welcome to Iceland! Your adventure begins. Once you're transferred from the airport to your hotel via Flybus transfer, the rest of the day is yours to explore!
Day 2 - The Golden Circle
Day 2 - The Golden Circle
Reykjavik - Thingvellir National Park - Gullfoss - Geysir - Reykjavik. Iceland's natural wonders are truly awe-inspiring, and the Golden Circle Route showcases some of the finest. Our journey begins at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the historic setting of Iceland's first parliament. It's also where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates slowly drift apart, creating a dramatic fissure in the earth. Next, we visit Gullfoss, a magnificent waterfall plunging 34 metres into the Hvita river, an unforgettable display of nature's force. Nearby, we explore the Geysir geothermal fields, home to steaming hot springs and bubbling pools. Watching water and steam surge from the ground, you can truly feel the power simmering beneath our feet. We head back to our hotel in Reykjavik for the night.
Please note: Travel in Greenland depends on weather, fog, and ice conditions, so day tours and excursions may change, and alternatives will be offered when possible. Delays or cancellations between Iceland and Greenland can also occur. Comprehensive travel insurance is essential to cover unexpected expenses. To avoid missing international flights, plan to stay at least two nights in Iceland after your Greenland trip.
Day 3 - Onwards to Greenland
Day 3 - Onwards to Greenland
Reykjavik - Ilulissat (Greenland). This morning, you will take a private airport transfer to Keflavik International Airport for your three-hour flight to Ilulissat, Greenland. Upon arrival, we’ll transfer you to your accommodation, where a welcome meeting with your local guide awaits. Next, we embark on a guided city walk through Ilulissat, after which you’ll have some free time to explore on your own, visit the local museum, or experience the vibrant Greenlandic life at the bustling harbour. A two-course welcome dinner is included at your hotel in Ilulissat.
Around 22:00, we set out on a sunset cruise to the renowned Ilulissat Icefjord, home to the world’s largest ‘ice sculpture park’. The ever-changing colours and light create a spectacular experience, with a chance to enjoy a late drink on the rugged, natural rocks. The tour lasts about three hours, so be sure to dress warmly.
Please note: Midnight sun season runs approximately from May 22 to July 24. Outside this period, the cruise takes place in the evening, with the beautiful sunset reflecting over the icebergs.)
Day 4 - Boat trip to the Eqi Glacier
Day 4 - Boat trip to the Eqi Glacier
Ilulissat - Eqi Glacier - Ilulissat. Start the day with breakfast at the hotel before our early departure for an unforgettable boat trip to Eqi, the calving glacier. Located 80 km north of Ilulissat, Eqi is one of Greenland’s most stunning natural wonders, with its 5-km wide glacier front spilling into the fjord. We'll approach close enough to witness massive chunks of ice breaking away - a spectacular sight accompanied by the resounding crack and splash of the glacier at work. After our memorable cruise, we return to the hotel in Ilulissat for the night.
Day 5 - Inuit history & hiking
Day 5 - Inuit history & hiking
Ilulissat - Sermermiut - Ilulissat. Leaving Ilulissat this morning, we take a bus as far as the road allows. From here, we embark on a guided walk to the historic Inuit settlement of Sermermiut, situated on the renowned Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004. Just 1.5 km south of Ilulissat, Sermermiut is surrounded by spectacular icebergs and has been home to various Inuit cultures for over 4,000 years. Here, you’ll see ancient settlement sites and learn about local history and customs before European contact. The views of the icebergs are simply unforgettable. Please wear sturdy boots or hiking shoes, as the 3 km (1.9 miles) round-trip hike takes us across a mix of track bridge, uneven terrain, and rocky trails.
After our hike, we’ll visit a local family who warmly open their home to share a glimpse of Greenlandic life. Enjoy a cup of coffee while hearing the latest local gossip and learning about life in this remote part of the world.
Day 6 - Return to Reykjavik
Day 6 - Return to Reykjavik
Ilulissat - Reykjavik (Iceland). After a final breakfast at the hotel, take the morning to explore Ilulissat one last time and pick up any last-minute Greenlandic souvenirs. Later, you’ll board your return flight to Keflavik, Iceland, where a private transfer awaits to take you to your accommodation in Reykjavik. The evening is free to head back out and explore the city.
Day 7 - The Blue Lagoon
Day 7 - The Blue Lagoon
Today you will travel through rugged lava fields to the Blue Lagoon (unescorted - without a guide), where you can unwind in the warm, mineral-rich geothermal waters renowned for their healing properties. Spend some time soaking in this unique setting, a true Icelandic experience. You will then be brought back to Reykjavik and the afternoon is yours to enjoy the Icelandic capital at your own pace. You can also opt to stay at the Blue Lagoon for a spa treatment, but you will have to make your own way back to the hotel.
