Day 1 - Welcome to India!
Day 1 - Welcome to India!
Sunday. Welcome to Delhi! Your Indian family adventure starts with an included transfer from the airport to our hotel in the city. There's free time to relax after your flight and venture out into the city if you wish.
Day 2 - Exploring Delhi
Day 2 - Exploring Delhi
Today our sightseeing begins with a guided tour of India's capital. In the old part of the city we'll take in Jama Masjid, which is the largest and oldest mosque in the whole of India. We'll pay a visit to the Sikh temple of Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib, where it's recommended to sit and listen to the traditional music for a few minutes. The food served here is also delicious!
After our visit, there's time for a fun rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk bazaar before we enjoy a drive through the newer part of Delhi. See the India Gate monument and Parliament House, then return to the hotel. There's a Welcome Dinner with the group tonight.
Day 3 - Cycling tour & Agra Fort
Day 3 - Cycling tour & Agra Fort
Delhi - Agra. This morning we enjoy a family cycling tour around Delhi, soaking up the hustle and bustle of a morning in India's capital. Later, we say goodbye to Delhi and drive to Agra, home to the majestic Taj Mahal. We're saving the main attraction for tomorrow, but there is time today to visit UNESCO-listed Agra Fort. The evening is free to head out and enjoy a family meal.
Day 4 - The extravagant Taj Mahal
Day 4 - The extravagant Taj Mahal
Agra - Bharatpur - Ranthambore National Park. Today is the day we've been eagerly looking forward to. An early start is rewarded as we watch the sunrise over the Taj Mahal. The Taj is perhaps the most extravagant monument to love ever built. It commemorates the wife of Emperor Shah Jahan, who unfortunately died in childbirth. After time to wander around this iconic Wonder of the World, we say goodbye to Agra and head to Bharatpur.
Here we pay a visit to Keoladeo Ghana National Park. This important bird sanctuary is a crucial wetland reserve for many migratory species. Enjoy a rickshaw ride around the park, escorted by a knowledgeable guide who will help you to spot and identify these birds.
Leaving Bharatpur, we make our way on the express train to Ranthambore National Park, where we'll be staying for the next two nights as we search for tigers.
Day 5 - Tigers!
Day 5 - Tigers!
Today we have a chance at spotting wild Bengal tigers in their natural habitat. Ranthambore plays a key role in the conservation of the species and we'll enjoy two shared game drives into the park. Tigers can be seen pacing along the dirt roads, sleeping under bushes or cooling off in the ponds. Sightings cannot be guaranteed but there is a healthy population of this iconic big cat in Ranthambore, so keep your eyes peeled! Leopards, crocodiles and other species can also be sighted.
Day 6 - Pachewar Garh Fort
Day 6 - Pachewar Garh Fort
Ranthambore National Park - Pachewar. Today we leave Ranthambore, heading north-west to Pachewar. The charming small village is off the beaten track for most travellers to India, and we're in for something special tonight. We'll be staying at the Pachewar Garh Fort, which is a converted haveli. It is more than 300 years old and overlooks a small lake. There's time to unwind in the hotel or you may wish to head into the village in order to visit the local temples.
Day 7 - The Pink City & Block printing
Day 7 - The Pink City & Block printing
Pachewar - Jaipur. Leaving Pachewar, we make our way to the famous Pink City of Jaipur, the final point on India's famed Golden Triangle. We'll take in sights including the Albert Hall and the city's main cricket stadium. There's also an included visit to the beautiful City Palace.
Later, we enjoy a block printing demonstration, and children will have the chance to create their own block printing masterpiece. Block printing is an ancient tradition that originated in China, but made its way across the border into India. The whole family can get involved with this ancient art and you'll be able to take your creations home with you.
Day 8 - Lofty Amber Fort
Day 8 - Lofty Amber Fort
This morning we pay a visit to Amber Fort. Spread over four levels, the fort overlooks Maota Lake and is a wonderful place to explore. We ride jeeps up to the fort and enjoy a guided tour before returning to the hotel. The afternoon is then free for you to relax with your family or head out to some of the other attractions in the Pink City. The Jantar Mantar space observatory is well worth a visit!
