Frequently asked questions
Will I be escorted by a guide?
Our Italy tours offer a great mix of included sightseeing with an expert guide at Italy's main highlights and free time for you to further discover destinations at your own pace. Free time can range from an hour or two to entire days, allowing you to visit attractions that aren't included on the tour or to unwind at your hotel—it's entirely up to you! Please note that in some towns and cities, you will need to make your own way to our accommodation after free time. Always make use of licensed taxis or ride-hailing apps such as Uber. Check the tour Itineraries for more details of which days include leisure time
How many people will be on the tour?
Group size varies from tour to tour; you will find a range of small group tours from 15-20 people to larger group tours up to 50. Depending on the season, typically you will find 30-50 people on the majority of the coach tours. There is lots of free time on all of our tours, so you will have plenty of opportunities to explore destinations with your partner, friends, or relatives in between our guided sightseeing excursions. And there are some optional excursions to the Amalfi Coast and to see the Leaning Tower in Pisa—not everyone on the tour will join these excursions, so groups will be smaller.
How fast paced are tours?
The pace of the tour varies from tour to tour. Usually shorter tours where time is limited are faster paced than some of our longer tours. As a general rule, we want to help you see as much of Italy as possible during your tour. On some days we will visit two or three destinations per day. In some of these you will enjoy guided sightseeing, whilst in others time will be free for you to find a restaurant for lunch or explore how you see fit. However, rest assured that in the main destinations, such as Venice and Florence, you will enjoy plenty of time to explore, usually with at least one overnight stay. Information about leisure time and tour activities can be found in our tour itineraries.
Conclusion
Italy is a country that offers something for everyone. With its rich history, stunning art, delicious cuisine, and warm culture, Italy is an ideal destination for senior travelers. Whether you choose to join a guided tour with On The Go Tours or explore on your own, there are plenty of tours and activities in Italy to enjoy as a senior.
