Day 1 Welcome to Jordan!
Amman - Petra. Upon arrival at Amman's Queen Alia Airport you will be met and transferred directly to Petra, a three hour drive away. Check in to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.
This evening or tomorrow evening, why not try your hand at our Petra Kitchen Add-on to join fellow travellers for a cuisine course at the local Petra Kitchen, where you'll help prepare a memorable Jordanian feast, then sit and enjoy the meal. Petra Kitchen is offered on Tuesdays and Fridays only – best pre booked to secure your place.
Contemplate doing the Petra by Night excursion (approx. USD$25 payable locally) for a tantalizing candlelight stroll through Petra’s Siq (available Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays only).
Day 2 UNESCO World Heritage Site of Petra
Day 2 UNESCO World Heritage Site of Petra
After breakfast, spend the day with your private guide exploring the ancient Nabatean Rose City of Petra - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Access the hidden archaeological treasures of the Rose City on a walk through a narrow, deep siq, where the rocks finally give way to reveal the famous facade of Al-Khazneh (The Treasury). Once inside the ancient city, discover tombs, temples, an impressive amphitheatre and a Roman colonnaded street. If you're feeling energetic, ascend the hundreds of rock-cut steps to Ad-Deir, better known as the Monastery. Ad-Deir has a similar facade to that of the Treasury, but is far bigger and the views from the nearby cliff-tops are incredible!
Day 3 Mt Nebo, Shobak Castle & the Dead Sea
Day 3 Mt Nebo, Shobak Castle & the Dead Sea
Petra - Shobak Castle - Madaba - Mt Nebo - Dead Sea. This morning we take a short drive to visit Little Petra and the Baidha Neolithic Village, hidden away in the centre of a mountain. Although, much smaller than Petra, Baidha is brimming with ancient tombs and temples. En route to the Dead Sea we'll journey over the Heisha Mountains and visit the crusader castle of Shobak. This 12th century fortress perches on the side of a rocky mountain.
Continuing, we visit Madaba, where we’ll see the world’s largest collection of ancient mosaics and visit St. George Church to see its famous 6th Century map of the Holy Land. Our final sightseeing stop today is Mt. Nebo, where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Here, we can take in the breathtaking views of the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, Jericho and if it’s a clear day, Jerusalem. We’ll arrive at the Dead Sea at around 4pm, to check in to our hotel. It’s then time to bid farewell to our guide as they will make their way back to Amman after reconfirming your airport departure time tomorrow. Enjoy a dip in the unusually warm and incredibly buoyant mineral rich waters and smother yourself in Dead Sea mud. The Dead Sea, renowned for its curative powers and therapeutic qualities, is the world's oldest spa!
Should you wish to drive directly from Petra to the Dead Sea, or exclude any of today’s touring arrangements and allowing more time to relax at the Dead Sea (depending on departure flights) this can be arranged, please enquire.

Tour Reviews
Our driver Bahaa was prompt and collected us on time the first day. The vehicle was nicely prepared for our travel and comfortable. As we had a lot of time spare in the first day we requested an additional diversion to the tour by going to Wadi Rum which was not on the tour circuit. Bahaa arranged this well and did his utmost to make it work for us. On arrival at Petra we met our tour guide Ghaedan. He was very friendly and prepared to make everything work for us. His knowledge and guiding were good and we were lucky to have him to ourselves. The Old Village Petra resort was a great location. The accomodation and food quality was good. The Holiday Inn at the Dead Sea was a bit of a disappointment. The room we had was aged and felt tired. Curtains were stained, TV did not work well, the gardens looked unattended amoung a few other things. The food was average and the food hall was like eating in a food court at a shopping mall. The Dead Sea component could possibly be reduced to a day visit as for us there wasn’t much else to do there once we’d had a swim in it. As a suggestion a Wadi Rum and/or Wadi Mujib inclusion may have been better. We also concluded the tour was very expensive considering a reasonable tipping suggestion was on top of the cost. Overall though Bahaa and Ghaedan made it a very memorable experience.
I had an amazing time thanks to my guide Hameed and my driver Baha. They both made me feel welcome and feel like a friend. Definitely an amazing adventure that I will never forget. No complaints at all.
My husband and I have recently returned from the 4 day Petra and Dead Sea Tour. Our holiday was amazing. We were looked after right from our first general enquiry to On the Go Tours, through to the last jam packed day of our holiday, and I can't recommend them all highly enough. Tim in the office fast tracked our Jordanian visa to accommodate our tight time frame, and set up an incredible 4 days for us with drivers and our very own wonderful guide called Rami. Rami is The Man. His knowledge is encyclopedic but he shared it at a pace we could follow and we learned so much. Given Jordan's abundant history such a commentary really brought each place to life but he also allowed us plenty of time to explore on our own. Nothing was too much trouble, and we were even given a substantial tour on the last day that wasn't part of the original package. We returned from Jordan totally on a buzz and we both thank you all for making it one of our best tours ever.
The BEST tour guide ever!! Informative, friendly, and thorough knowledge of the history and points of interest at all locations!! On the Go Tours with Amer will be my first and only recommendation to friends and family!!!
