Day 1 The Golden Circle
Day 1 The Golden Circle
Setting off from Reykjavik, the first stop of this tour is Thingvellir National Park. Explore the beautiful scenery of one of the most incredible geological wonders of the world and view the rugged cliffs of the impressive valley that runs through the park. The next stop is the Geysir hot spring area. This famous hot spring inspired the English word 'geyser', though it is now inactive. You will see instead the nearby Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 4 to 10 minutes and shoots impressive volumes of water up to 40 metres skywards.
Next, we stop at Gullfoss waterfall. Feel the spray of the water as you watch the thundering water fall 32 meters into the valley below. Following this we visit the "little brother" of Gullfoss. Here we can marvel at the cascading water as it falls 23ft into the river below. Moving on to Kerid crater lake we gaze at the 3000-year-old crater with its blue waters that make it look like a giant eye, giving it the nickname “The Eye of the World.” The final stop of this tour is the geothermal town of Hveragerdi. Here we can explore and learn about this "earthquake town." It's then time to return to Reykjavik where our tour comes to an end.

Tour Reviews
comprised 2 tours Golden Circle Loop & Artic Aurora Super Jeep. I loved both tours. I enjoyed the Arctic Aurora that I booked another on on 29 Sept. Got to see the Northern Lights on both occasions. Both guides Bjorni & Palli were very helpful to me as I had a new phone with the camera inbuilt and didn't think I would get any good photos. But got great pix. My other guide Elisa even though not an Icelander by birth had lived in Iceland long enough to have a love and appreciation for the country and was lovely and also very knowledgeable. I left accom blank as neither activity required accommodation
