Day 1 - Arrival and Journey to Newport

Portland - Newport. Our tour guide will meet you at the airport arrivals pick-up area, so please ensure you arrive by 15:00 at the latest. From here, we’ll journey for two hours through the Willamette Valley, heading towards the Pacific Ocean. Along the way, we’ll pass through Lincoln City and Depoe Bay before reaching Newport.
En route, we will explore the Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge, a unique coastal wetland home to a variety of wildlife, including migrating birds, seals, and other marine creatures. This peaceful area offers stunning views of the bay and is a perfect spot for birdwatching and nature photography. We’ll have the opportunity to observe the rich ecosystem both in and out of the water.
In the evening, we’ll enjoy a farm-to-table experience at a local restaurant for our tour’s welcome dinner.
Please note: This tour involves extensive hiking on uneven terrain, covering an average of 5 to 8 kilometres at a time, but sometimes more. Elevation changes range from 50 to 1,000 feet, and both touring and overnight locations are situated at altitudes between 5,000 and 8,000 feet above sea level. Due to the physical demands of this itinerary, participants should be prepared for significant activity.

We begin our morning by visiting various viewpoints around Newport, with a special focus on the stunning Yaquina Head Lighthouse and Marine Gardens just to the north. These locations offer breathtaking views of the rugged coastline and abundant marine life.
Next, we’ll embark on a 1-hour sea life cruise, which allows us to experience the incredible scenery of the bay, river, and coastline. Along the way, we may spot whales, harbour porpoises, seals, sea lions, pelicans, and a variety of marine birds. Our knowledgeable guide will share fascinating insights about the area, including details about the largest fishing fleet on the Oregon Coast and other unique features of this coastal region.
After the cruise, we’ll enjoy a delicious meal of fresh fish, straight off the boat, at one of the excellent local restaurants.
In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to relax and soak in the sights and sounds of the Pacific Ocean, as well as to explore Newport. As the evening draws in, we’ll gather around a large bonfire on the beach, roasting marshmallows and enjoying s’mores under the stars.
Day 3 - Newport to Gold Beach

Newport - Gold Beach. Today, we’ll continue our journey south along Oregon’s stunning coastline. Along the way, we’ll visit notable landmarks such as Heceta Head Lighthouse, perched on dramatic cliffs with breathtaking ocean views; Sea Lion Caves, home to a large colony of sea lions; Devil’s Churn, where the Pacific waves crash dramatically against the rocks; and Thor’s Wells, a natural geyser-like feature. We’ll also explore Captain Cook Point and Cape Blanco, renowned for their rugged beauty and panoramic vistas.
This evening, we arrive in Gold Beach, where you can unwind while watching the waves or take a peaceful walk along the beach to the Rogue River or Turtle Rock Creek.
Day 4 - Cruising the Rogue River to California

Gold Beach - Crescent City. Get ready for an exciting day on the Rogue River, as we embark on a thrilling 64-mile journey aboard a Hydro-jet boat. We’ll navigate through shallow riffles and under the towering 400-foot cliffs of Copper Canyon. As we venture further into this federally designated Wild & Scenic River, keep your camera ready to capture sightings of osprey, otters, deer, and possibly even a bear or two. Our knowledgeable guide will share the rich folklore, history, and natural beauty of the area, highlighting the trees, wildflowers, and other unique features.
Along the way, we’ll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, either on an open deck overlooking the river or indoors with panoramic views of the stunning landscape.
In the afternoon, we will continue our journey along the final stretch of Oregon's stunning coastline, enjoying breathtaking views of rugged cliffs, lush forests, and the Pacific Ocean. As we cross into California, we’ll arrive in Crescent City, where we will settle in for the night, surrounded by towering redwoods and coastal beauty.
Day 5 - Redwoods & Shady Cove

Crescent City - Redwoods - Shady Cove. This morning, we’ll have the opportunity to explore the magnificent Redwood Forests of the Pacific Northwest. We’ll visit Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, a lush, ancient forest where we can walk among towering, thousand-year-old trees and explore fern-filled groves.
Next, we’ll head to Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, home to dense forests and diverse wildlife, including Roosevelt elk, with trails that offer scenic views of the rugged coastline. Finally, we’ll explore Jedediah Smith Redwood Grove, considered one of the most beautiful areas of the Redwoods, where you’ll find an awe-inspiring collection of ancient trees, including some of the tallest and most majestic redwoods in existence.
After our exploration, we’ll leave the coast behind and head inland, crossing back into Oregon. We’ll conclude our day in the charming town of Shady Cove, a peaceful retreat nestled along the Rogue River.
Day 6 - Crater Lake and Bend Exploration

Shady Cove - Crater Lake National Park - Bend. Today, we’ll travel north along Highway 97 to Crater Lake National Park, famous for its incredible depth, vivid blue colour, and pristine water. At the Visitor Centre, we’ll gain insight into the history and formation of the lake. We’ll then enjoy panoramic views as we hike up to Garfield Peak.
After lunch at the Crater Lake Dining Room, we’ll continue our journey, driving around the Rim. This two-hour route offers stunning views of the lake’s vibrant blue waters and the dramatic volcanic cliffs that encircle it. We’ll make stops along the way to admire the scenery and take photos. There will also be a chance to hike up to The Watchman and Mount Scott, where we’ll be rewarded with expansive views of the lake and the surrounding landscape.
Once we’ve said goodbye to Crater Lake, we’ll make our way to Bend. You’ll have some time to explore Central Oregon’s largest city before settling in for the night.
Day 7 - Newberry Volcano & Columbia Gorge

Bend - Newberry Volcano National Monument - Columbia Gorge - Portland. After breakfast, we’ll head just south of town to explore the Newberry Volcano National Monument, a stunning active volcanic area known for its geothermal features, including hot springs and lava flows. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy some fantastic hikes, with trails offering panoramic views of the caldera, the sparkling Paulina and East Lake, and the surrounding rugged landscape.
Afterwards, we’ll travel north to Portland, passing through the picturesque Columbia River Gorge. Along the way, we’ll enjoy the stunning views and stop for photo opportunities in this protected National Scenic Area. We’ll also visit Multnomah Falls, the second-tallest year-round waterfall in the United States of America, where the water plunges 620 feet from its source on Larch Mountain.
We’ll enjoy a farewell lunch at Multnomah Falls Lodge, overlooking the Columbia River. We’ll arrive at Portland Airport in the late afternoon, approximately 15:00.
