Frequently asked questions
Where can I visit on your tours?
The majority of our Australia tours take in the country's popular east coast, specifically from Byron Bay up to Cairns. Along this route lie some of the country's most iconic wonders. From the Great Barrier Reef to picturesque Fraser Island and the Daintree Rainforest. With tours ranging in length from 4 days to 17, you can choose the best trip to suit your budget and preferences. We also offer an escorted group tour of Australia's west coast, travelling from Perth to Exmouth and taking in highlights including Shark Bay, Ningaloo Reef, and more!
What is the best time of year to visit Australia?
Australia is renowned for its extreme summer weather, and the summer months from December to February can see highs of 45 degrees Centigrade and more. Our tours stay close to the coast, where the majority of Australians live and where the temperatures are more moderate. But it is still recommended to travel during the shoulder seasons and winter from March to November. Temperatures remain pleasantly warm, and there is little rainfall during this time, perfect for both sightseeing and beachside relaxation.
What transport do you use in Australia?
As you probably know, Australia is huge! While we do drive between many destinations, we also make use of the country's efficient domestic flight network. Domestic flights are included in your tour package and clearly labelled on the itinerary. When travelling by road in Australia, we make use of private coaches and minibuses, and when visiting islands, the use of ferries and other boat travel is also included in your tour where relevant.
How big are your Australia tour groups and what is the age of your travellers?
Whether you're travelling on one of our Handpicked Australia tours or our Essentials trips, the maximum group size is just 16, providing a fun and intimate group tour experience. Our Essentials tours generally cater to a younger demographic than our Handpicked tours, attracting travellers mainly in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. On our handpicked trips, travellers tend to be in the 30–60 age bracket, but we also welcome travellers both older and younger on these trips.
Will I have a tour guide?
In Australia, all of our tours are escorted by a local guide, and you will enjoy the services of expert local guides for some included sightseeing and activities, as per each itinerary.
What is the accommodation like on these Australia trips?
On our handpicked tours, you will stay in a mixture of well-located 3- to 4-star hotels, which are named on our itineraries. Our Essentials tours are designed to keep costs down, so you will stay in a mixture of simple accommodation, hostels, dorms, and eco-cabins.
Is tap water safe to drink?
The tap water in Australia is high quality and safe to drink. We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle on tour. This will save you money and help to reduce your environmental footprint—a win all around! If travelling in more rural parts of central Australia, tap water quality can vary, and sticking to bottled water may be safer.
